The Adopt Program is about people helping people. Adopt matches deserving students with donors who are interested in helping students attend Florida College. The students selected are informed of their “adoption” and keep the donor informed of their progress during the year.

Adopt Funds

Adopt gifts range in award from $1000 to $5000 per year. Amounts are divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. The exact amount a student qualifies for is based on his/her FAFSA.

Adopt Requirements

In order to be eligible for financial assistance from the Adopt Program, you must meet certain requirement.
Requirements for Eligibility
  • You must complete the FAFSA before the Adopt deadline and demonstrate financial need.
  • Apply for a Stafford or King Loan before the Adopt deadline.
  • Complete the Adopt application by the deadline.
Requirements While in the Adopt Program
  • You must maintain a GPA of 2.0 on a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
  • You must write thank you letters twice a semester, due by the deadline, to each of your adopt parents.
  • You must complete 14 hours of volunteer service each school year.
  • You must attend the Adopt Reception during lectures week.
There will be a $100-per-day reduction in your Adopt award for every day past the deadline that your thank-you letters and volunteer hours remain incomplete (See Below). The maximum reduction will be $500 and may jeopardize your award in future semesters. Missing deadlines places an Adopt recipient on probation. Failure to meet any future deadlines will result in zero future Adopt awards.
