These electronic resources are accessible to those associated with Florida College, or individuals using a computer on the College’s campus.

Using the EBSCO Discovery Service, library users can search the entire Florida College Library catalog and most of our databases in one search.


Biblical Archaeology Society (BAS) Library

Use Biblical Archaeology Society Online Archive to browse or search over 7,000 articles from 40 years of Biblical Archaeology Review (1975 to present), 20 years of Bible Review (1985 to 2005 complete) and eight years of Archaeology Odyssey (1998 to 2006 complete).

A reference database that contains encyclopedias, almanacs, dictionaries, and many other basic reference works. The Concept Map is a useful feature for discovering other terms related to your search term.

An online version of the print publication. It contains both traditional encyclopedia articles and photos, video and audio clips, and links. Also available are the Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus. MLA citation information is available at the bottom of each article.

Facts On File Issues & Controversies

Issues & Controversies explores and analyzes hundreds of hot topics in politics, business, government, crime, law, energy, education, health, family, science, foreign policy, race, rights, society, and culture.

FirstSearch (WorldCat, et al).

Allows students to search several databases, including WorldCat (books in libraries across the world), ArticleFirst (indexes articles from selected journals), ERIC, and more. References are not full-text.

Academic Search Ultimate offers access to resources cited in key subject indexes. The combination of academic journals, magazines, periodicals, reports, books and videos meets the needs of scholars in virtually every discipline ranging from astronomy, anthropology, biomedicine, engineering, health, law and literacy to mathematics, pharmacology, women’s studies, zoology and more.

American Antiquarian Society (AAS) Historical Periodicals

The American Antiquarian Society (AAS) Historical Periodicals Collection: Series 1 (1691-1820) presents more than 500 titles dating from 1691 through 1820. The collection represents almost two centuries of print culture, ranging from early works imported by colonists to later titles published on American soil on the eve of the Revolution and during the early republic.

AtlaSerials PLUS, Religion Collection

AtlaSerials PLUS®, Religion Collection contains more than 580 journals in many areas of religion and theology, with all the titles in Atla’s original full-text product, AtlaSerials® (Atlas®) plus more than 200 additional full-text titles. This database is produced by Atla, a membership association of collectors and connectors in religion and theology.
Business Source Complete exceeds all other databases available in terms of its premium content of peer-reviewed, business-related journals. Included as part of the comprehensive coverage offered by this database are indexing and abstracts for the most important scholarly business journals, dating back as far as 1886.
CINAHL®Complete is the world’s most comprehensive source of full-text for nursing & allied health journals, providing full text for more than 1,300 journals indexed in CINAHL. This authoritative file contains full text for many of the most used journals in the CINAHL index, with no embargo. CINAHL®Complete is the definitive research tool for all areas of nursing & allied health literature.

Communication & Mass Media Complete

CMMC offers cover-to-cover (“core”) indexing and abstracts for more than 570 journals and selected (“priority”) coverage of nearly 200 more, for a combined coverage of more than 770 titles. Furthermore, this database includes full text for over 450 journals. Many major journals have indexing, abstracts, PDFs and searchable cited references from their first issues to the present (dating as far back as 1915).

Education Full Text (H.W. Wilson)

Provides full text of articles from over 350 journals as far back as 1996, in addition to indexing of over 770 periodicals dating back to 1983. Subject coverage includes adult education, continuing education, literacy standards, multicultural/ethnic education, teaching methods, in-depth coverage of special education and much more.

Gale Literature Criticism Collection Online

Literature Criticism Online collects and organizes literary commentary representing a variety of genres, time periods, and nationalities. Compiled by professional literature researchers and other subject matter experts, each entry focuses on an author, work, or topic and includes critical essays, reviews, and other materials reprinted from periodicals, scholarly journals, monographs, and books that are specially selected to provide a representative range of viewpoints and a chronological record of the critical responses.

JSTOR Essentials Collection

Established in 1997, JSTOR’s first collection includes core journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. This collection also contains titles in ecology, mathematics, and statistics. Arts & Sciences III includes journals in languages and literature, as well as titles in the fields of music, film studies, folklore, performing arts, religion, women’s studies, and the history and study of art and architecture.

Gale’s Literary Index provides quick and easy access to author and title listings from over 130 literature products from Gale. The referenced products themselves will contain complete biographies on authors and critical essays on their writings.

MEDLINE with Full Text provides the authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and pre-clinical sciences found on MEDLINE, plus the database provides full text for more than 1,470 journals indexed in MEDLINE. Of those, nearly 1,450 have cover-to-cover indexing in MEDLINE. And of those, 558 are not found with full text in any version of Academic Search, Health Source or Biomedical Reference Collection.

This is a general database, like Academic Search Ultimate, and allows you to search for academic articles and generals across multiple different sources.

ProQuest Research Library provides one-stop access to thousands of full-text periodicals from one of the broadest, most inclusive general reference databases ProQuest has to offer. Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection

Comprehensive database providing nearly 560 full text publications dating as far back as 1965. The database covers topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods. In addition to the full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for all journals in the collection.
Use ScienceDirect to explore scientific, technical, and medical research. ScienceDirect has full-text journal content in the areas of physical sciences and engineering, life sciences, health sciences, and social sciences and humanities.

Find current and archived articles on issues, events, people, government, and more with the world’s largest collection of state, regional, national, and international full-text newspapers and other news sources.

Newspaper Source provides cover-to-cover full text for more than 40 (U.S.) & international newspapers. The database also contains selective full text for 389 regional (U.S.) newspapers. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are also provided.

Chronicle of Higher Education

The Chronicle of Higher Education provides the nation’s largest source of news about colleges and universities. Registration includes the Chronicle’s Academe Today email newsletter.

Library Music Source

Contains the largest collection of Western Classical sheet music ever assembled. Users have access and command of over 300,000 pages of sheet music from over 35,000 works including the entire piano works of Chopin, all the songs of Schubert, all the organ music of J. S. Bach, and all the orchestra parts and scores of Beethoven, to cite only a few examples. Users can access the complete or nearly complete published works of the world’s great composers for orchestra, chamber ensemble, piano, organ, voice, chorus, strings, winds, percussion, and guitar.

More than 37 periodicals and twelve lectureship proceedings issued by members of the churches of Christ are included in the Restoration Serials Index.

ERIC (Education)

ERIC, the Education Resource Information Center, provides access to education literature and research. The database provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. Content includes journal articles, research reports, curriculum and teaching guides, conference papers, dissertations and theses, and books dating back to 1966.

Florida Electronic Library

The Florida Electronic Library is a gateway to select Internet resources that offers access to comprehensive, accurate, and reliable information. Available resources include electronic magazines, newspapers, almanacs, encyclopedias, and books, providing information on topics such as current events, education, business, technology, and health issues.

Florida Digital Newspaper Library

The Florida Digital Newspaper Library exists to provide access to the news and history of Florida. All of the over 1,000,000 pages of historic through current Florida newspapers in the Florida Digital Newspaper Library are openly and freely available with zoomable page images and full text. The Florida Digital Newspaper Library builds on the work done in microfilm within the Florida Newspaper Project.
