This degree program emphasizes research-based, best teaching practices with a spiritual focus on graduates behaving ethically, providing service to others and being godly influences. Students learn theory in the classroom, see it in practice in internship experiences, and have access to faculty, staff and cooperating schools for support. Elementary education students will work with Christian faculty who have classroom teaching experience. Students will learn effective, research based strategies and will complete four levels of field experience in area schools, including a final full-time internship during their final semester. The program is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges (SACS) and the Florida Department of Education. Graduates will be fully qualified and certified to teach in public or private schools in the state of Florida or to seek certification in other states, as the state of Florida has reciprocity with many other states.
Graduates of the Educational Studies program will have a broad, foundational knowledge of educational theory and practices as well as strong content knowledge in their chosen area of specialization. These knowledge bases should well prepare them for work in private educational settings and support them in seeking state certification in their chosen specialization. However, because state accreditation requirements vary by state, graduates are encouraged to investigate the specific requirements for the state in which they plan to seek employment.
