The Florida College Chamber Singers began when professor Tim Moore joined the music staff at Florida College (’00). The first goal of the group was to produce a Madrigal Dinner – which has become a biennial tradition ever since. The second goal was to give students and audiences a chance to experience smaller vocal ensemble music with high emphasis on musicality and interpretation. The Chamber Singers is a select group comprised of mostly vocal majors but also includes students from all disiplines with high vocal and sight reading skills. Their repertoire spans the history of music, from Renaissance Madrigals to Vocal Jazz and everything in between. Besides the Madrigal Dinners and concerts, the group periodically presents concert versions of musicals. This past summer, the group competed in the prestigious Anton Bruckner Choral Festival in Linz, Austria where they took home a Silver Medal in the Mixed Ensemble Catagory.
When students audition for chorus, they are also being considered for the Chamber Singers as well. Following the chorus auditions, Professor Moore will contact individuals for further conversations and a possible second round of auditions.
If you have an interest in the group and would like to learn more, contact professor Tim Moore.
Music Scholarships are available to deserving students by audition.
