Financial Aid Officer

Florida College is looking for applicants interested in the financial aid officer position.

This position reports to the director of financial aid. The priority application deadline is Friday, June 18, 2021.

Job Summary

This position works with the director of financial aid to administer all federal, state and institutional aid programs at Florida College.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations along with institutional policies and procedures
  • Provides advising services to students and parents regarding available financial aid programs, application deadlines, federal, state and school policies, as well providing direction to required forms necessary to complete the application process
  • Coordinates with the admissions office to inform prospective students where to find and secure financial aid and assist students and staff with inquiries regarding financial aid status information
  • Works with other departments to accurately coordinate and record financial aid
  • Verifies financial information when necessary including analysis of IRS tax transcripts
  • Represents the director in giving presentations and/or in the event of prolonged or temporary absence
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the financial aid director

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Previous experience in a financial aid office or other financial institution preferred
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and data entry skills
  • Ability and desire to read, research, understand and apply regulations established by the federal and state governments as well as consistently execute institutional policies
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication and customer service skills
  • Self-starter with ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to understand fundamental and advanced financial aid concepts
  • Ability to use financial aid software efficiently and effectively
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting and management policies and procedures preferred
