Admissions Counselor

The office of admissions & retention services at Florida College is seeking applicants for the position of admissions counselor.
This position is responsible for marketing the College to prospective students and their families through phone, email, social media and face-to-face interactions. The office of admissions & retention services is a high-energy environment, requiring professionalism and teamwork from every employee. This is a full-time, benefits eligible position and reports to the director of admissions & retention services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Make personal visits with prospective students throughout the country
  • Take personal responsibility for assigned region of U.S. for recruitment purposes, working conventions, high school visits, and various recruitment events for that region
  • Assistance in recruiting activities among the summer camps and the training and selection of Camp Friends
  • Supervise and assist student ambassadors on call nights in the communication flow to prospective students and at on-campus events
  • Assist in implementation of on-campus events (e.g., Falcon Days, campus tours, etc.)
  • Assist in processing applicant files and correspondence
  • Data entry and tracking of prospect and student records in CAMs software system
  • Other duties as assigned by the director of admissions & retention services

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Admiration for Florida College and what we offer today’s students
  • Ability to travel for up to 15 weeks a year and potentially eight weeks at a time
  • Team-oriented self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised
  • Experience in college admissions preferred, but not necessary
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal command of English, comfortable speaking in front of crowds
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • High level of ability in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to speak one-on-one to prospective students and parents, representing the college in a professional manner via phone calls, emails, social media and face-to-face presentations
  • Ability to focus even with continued interruptions
  • Ability to follow established processes consistently and accurately
  • Ability to work non-standard hours when necessary
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner
  • Willingness to adhere to the Florida College dress code and code of conduct in personal and professional life
