Golf Program Coming to Florida College Next Fall

We are excited to announce that men’s and women’s golf will be offered starting in fall 2022. The golf teams will join five other intercollegiate sports offered at the college including volleyball, soccer, basketball, cross country and track and field – all of which compete in the Continental Athletic Conference of the NAIA with 30 other member institutions across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and more.

“There has been excitement around the idea of adding a golf team for years. We are thrilled to add men and women’s golf to Florida College’s athletic department,” said Athletic Director Chase Teichmann.

The new golf teams will be coached by Wilson Wickerham. Wilson comes to Florida College with 20 plus years of athletic experience. Wilson has competed in golf tournaments throughout the nation and pioneered the golf program at his current school. He graduated from Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Physical Education. Wilson has served as a counselor at the Florida College North Carolina Camp and comes from a family of Florida College supporters.

“We are excited to welcome Wilson to the FC Family,” said Teichmann. “Wilson is an extremely driven individual, with a passion and knowledge for golf, as well as for Florida College and what it represents.”

The teams will utilize the Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club course, located just steps from campus. The course is listed in the National Register of Historic Places by the National Park Service, the only 18-hole golf course in the state of Florida with this distinction.
