Florida College Grants Tenure to Four Professors

This Spring, Florida College granted tenure to four full-time professors. These professors have earned a tenured position at Florida College through six years of hard work and dedication.

Dr. Brian Gilliam, Business Program

Dr. Brian Gilliam is the Chair of the college’s Business Program. He and his wife Jacqueline moved to Seffner, Florida from Tustin, California in 2015. Dr. Gilliam’s goal as a professor is to “inspire, challenge, encourage, and love the hearts and minds of students and colleagues” and “to glorify the Lord in pursuing the Florida College mission.”

Dr. Gilliam teaches various lower and upper division business courses. He particularly enjoys classes that allow his “faith, knowledge, and experience to intersect with the needs and interests of students.”

Michael Benson, Elementary Education Program

Michael Benson is currently the Co-Chair of the Elementary Education department. A Temple Terrace native, Benson has been teaching at the college for six years.

“The draw of Florida College is always going to be the people. It is hard to resist being able to work with fellow Christians and in an environment that is focused on God first.” Says Benson.

Benson is looking forward to serving the student body in a new capacity this fall as the Dean of Students.

“I’ve been in education at various levels for 21 years now, and there is always an excitement and optimism about starting a new school year,” says Benson. “And, for me, the main reason for that is the students.”

Dr. Minghui Liu, Mathematics Department

Dr. Minghui Liu is a professor in Florida College’s Mathematics department. Dr. Liu came to the college six years ago from Yueyang, China. When asked why he chose to move across the globe to teach our campus, he replied “I heard good things about Florida College when I was in Asia and decided to apply for a position here to start a new adventure.” In the years since, Dr. Liu and his family have become beloved members of the Florida College community.

Austin Parimore, Physical Education and Sport Management Department

Austin Parimore is one of Florida College’s Physical Education and Sport Management professors. He is also the director of the school’s intramural sports program. Parimore began working for the college in the fall of 2015.

He and his wife Jessica both teach a variety of PE courses that help students to build healthy habits and stay fit during the school year. Parimore values the opportunities he has to connect with students both on and off the field.

“I continue to manage intramurals because I get to develop relationships with students in a much different way then I experience in the classroom,” says Parimore.
