Emily Wolfe and Stuart Maness Receive Florida College Senior Legacy Scholarships

Florida College students Emily Wolfe and Stuart Maness were awarded this year’s Senior Legacy Scholarships at last week’s commencement ceremony. The Senior Legacy Scholarship is a scholarship for students pursuing their bachelor’s degrees at Florida College, and it is funded by Florida College bachelor’s degree graduates.

This year, Florida College four-year grads who have given to the scholarship fund also had the opportunity to vote for which students should receive the scholarships. The Senior Legacy Scholarship winners must be returning juniors or seniors at Florida College, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA, and have a proven record of active involvement within their academic programs and school-wide functions. Scholarship recipients should also be students who represent Florida College well and will continue to support the college after graduation.

Emily Wolfe is a senior in the elementary education program. She has proven to be an outstanding individual with strong spiritual values and chose to continue her education at Florida College because it has become her home.

“There is no place I would rather be,” Emily said. “Florida College has become my home. I also know that this is the best place to prepare me for my future, both academically and spiritually.”

As the first female SBGA president in 20 years, Emily showed great poise as she served the student body. She has served as a member of the Alpha Club and has been nominated to the spring court, homecoming court and Miss Florida College College court. She was selected as the Spring Queen in 2015. She loves Florida College and already has plans to continue to support the college and its mission.

“I plan on being a camp counselor in Southern California and telling people about ‘Our Dear FC’ so they may have a chance to gain the same, wonderful experience that I did,” Emily said.

“I chose to continue my education at Florida College because of the impact my teachers and friends had on me those first two years,” Stuart said. “I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else finishing out my degree with any other teachers, faculty or staff supporting me the entire way.”

Stuart is a hard working student and demonstrates good leadership qualities on campus. He has served in multiple student and society capacities. He was nominated to the Mr. Florida College court in 2015 and was selected as Mr. Florida College in 2016. He served as SBGA vice president this year and will further his service by serving on the SBGA senate next year. He is very spiritually mature and has a reputation that speaks well of his character and the college. Stuart has also served as a Camp Friend and as a member of the Alpha Club.

Emily Wolfe and Stuart Maness represent Florida College well as four-year students and recipients of the Senior Legacy Scholarship. Congratulations to these students on receiving this year’s Senior Legacy Scholarships!
