Florida College has secured a matching gift of up to $200,000, thanks to two anonymous donors, doubling the impact of all #GivingTuesday gifts made on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016!

According to Martin Adams, Florida College’s acting chief advancement officer, this gift will have a major impact on the college’s participation in the #GivingTuesday movement.

“Florida College is getting a guaranteed return for every dollar that is given on #GivingTuesday,” Adams said. “That is powerful for donors to know. Even though a gift may be modest, it becomes two times that by giving on #GivingTuesday instead of another day.”

Florida College’s first-ever #GivingTuesday experience was an outstanding success. Students, faculty and staff found ways to give back to the local community, and we raised $265,196.34 for Florida College in one day thanks to generous gifts from more than 250 donors across the country.

Nearly half of the total amount raised during last year’s #GivingTuesday movement was funded by a matching gift of $100,000 from one anonymous donor. Inspired by the overwhelming response of Florida College alumni and friends on #GivingTuesday, that same anonymous donor has not only agreed to support this year’s #GivingTuesday movement with another $100,000 matching gift, but also found another anonymous donor who agreed to give a second $100,000 matching gift, offering Florida College a total of $200,000 in potential matching funds.

The goal for this year’s #GivingTuesday movement is to meet the match and raise $400,000 to go directly to the Scholarship Partner Fund, which provides Florida College students with scholarships for academics, athletics, fine arts and more.

“The focus of #GivingTuesday is about people helping people. Our people in our community are our students,” Adams said. “These matching gifts show the donors’ commitment to our students without putting the emphasis on themselves.”

Help us meet the match on #GivingTuesday to raise $400,000 for the benefit of Florida College students!
