The Florida College Friends will perform at Tampa’s annual Walk Like MADD event on the University of South Florida campus on Friday, March 24, at 5-9 p.m. Walk Like MADD is the signature fundraising event of Mothers Against Drunk Driving to help raise awareness and funds to eliminate drunk driving.
The Tampa Walk Like MADD event will feature 520 walking participants in 45 teams and has already raised $68,840 toward the $80,000 goal. The Friends will be performing several short sets throughout the course of the event and playing hit songs in between each set.
Adam Olson, Florida College’s director of alumni relations and the director of the Friends, is glad the group has the opportunity to serve in this way.
“We are so pleased to participate in this event,” Olson said. “It is an honor to support such a wonderful cause in remembering victims, inspiring change and committing ourselves to bettering our community.”
Last year, tens of thousands of people in over 80 cities across the nation participated in Walk Like MADD, and together, they raised almost $3 million to provide their programs and services at no cost. With every step taken and each dollar raised, walkers are supporting MADD’s lifesaving mission to keep families and communities safe.
