Ethan Bingham was offered a full-tuition scholarship to Florida College as a National Merit Finalist at an academic signing before the chorus concert in Nashville, Tennessee, on Friday, March 18, 2016.

Ethan is a home-school student from Louisville, Kentucky, and will graduate in June 2016 with more than 20 hours of college credit.

Paul Casebolt, Florida College’s director of admissions and retention services, and the admissions team work hard to attract top academic students, like Ethan, from across the country using scholarships to reward them for their hard work and diligence in their studies during high school.

“We are excited to recognize Ethan Bingham of Louisville, Kentucky, for his achievement as a National Merit Finalist, by offering him a full-tuition scholarship to Florida College,”  Paul said. “This represents a financial commitment on the part of the college in the amount of over $60,000 over the next four years.”

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Approximately 1.5 million high-school students enter the National Merit Program each year, and of those entrants, some 50,000 students qualify for recognition. Approximately 15,000 students advance to the finalist standing, placing Ethan among the top-performing students in the country.

Ethan will join Florida College on campus as a freshman in August 2016. He hopes to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business administration and get involved with societies and the chorus. Ethan’s parents, John Bingham (A.A. ’89) and Bethany (Tipps) Bingham (’89), attended Florida College and are thrilled with Ethan’s decision to follow in their footsteps.

Florida College would like to congratulate Ethan Bingham on his outstanding academic success and welcome him to the Florida College family!
