Bailey McBryde was selected as the winner of the $1,000 #GivingTuesday scholarship to Florida College in recognition of her efforts to give back to her community in Ash Flat, Arkansas.
As a senior in high school, Bailey serves her community both by participating in group community service projects and doing community service individually. As a member of various high-school organizations, she has had the privilege to serve food at a Kiwanis Club meeting, help with multiple food drives, pick up trash on the side of the road and raise money for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
“I greatly enjoy helping the community, however I only hope that they see the bigger picture,” Bailey said. “I strive to please the Lord everyday, and giving back to my community is just one way to do that.”
In addition to her efforts with fellow high-school students, Bailey also volunteers on her own. She enjoys making baked goods and pastries and taking them to the elderly or people in need in her community. She donates her old clothes to a local second-hand store. Over the past six years, she has volunteered at a Hippotherapy Camp for kids in the summer. She also makes a special effort put a smile on her face, offer to lend a helping hand and say kind words wherever she goes.
“Many may feel that this is a small act, yet I believe it is a mighty one,” Bailey said.
Florida College would like to thank Bailey McBryde for her efforts to serve others and congratulate her on winning the $1,000 #GivingTuesday scholarship!
