Florida College student Aser Civilus has been selected to receive a UPS Scholarship provided by the Florida Independent College Fund and its national partner, the Council of Independent Colleges (CIC).
Civilus is a junior in the liberal studies program at Florida College. He came to the college from Jacksonville, Florida, to join the men’s soccer team, and he plays an important role for the Falcons. According to Saif Alsafeer, head coach of the men’s soccer team, Aser is an excellent recipient of the scholarship.
“He is a young man of great character and a great asset to our soccer program,” Alsafeer said. “He is one of those guys that makes a difference in every aspect, so we’re thrilled to have Aser back with us this year.”
The CIC is an association that has worked to support college and university leadership, advance institutional excellence, and enhance public understanding of private higher education’s contributions to society. At the national level, CIC teams up with the UPS Foundation to distribute funding of the UPS Scholarship. Through this program this year, the Florida Independent College Fund awarded $78,000 in UPS Scholarships to 30 deserving students at private, nonprofit colleges and universities across Florida.
Congratulations to Aser Civilus on being selected as a UPS Scholarship recipient!
