Essay Subject and Instructions
Whether they hope to become teachers, lawyers, accountants, nurses, homemakers, or preachers, students at a liberal arts college begin by taking courses from a broad range of subject areas. During the first two years a student spends at Florida College, he or she will take courses from disciplines as varied as English composition, math, chemistry, psychology, speech, French, physical education, history, and biblical studies. Suppose that your closest friend is trying to decide between a liberal arts college and some kind of vocational training (cosmetology school, perhaps, or a technical school for computer technicians).
Write a fully developed paragraph or short essay (approximately 300 words) explaining to your friend what potential benefits you see in choosing the broad-based education provided by a liberal arts college.
