Liberal Arts Essay

Whether you knew it or not, you staked your future on a liberal arts education when you enrolled at Florida College. You made a wise choice! But before you experience it at FC, we want you to form and state your own views about why a liberal arts education is valuable.

Do you know the basic philosophy upon which the liberal arts education regimen is based? Can you recognize the influence of this philosophy in your FC coursework? How do you connect a liberal arts education with your key life goals?

It is important for you to develop your own answers to these questions up front. In fact, before you can register for classes, you must write a short essay expressing your own views about the value of a liberal arts education. If you’d like to know more about why Florida College requires this, check out our Frequently Asked Questions.

Getting Started

There are two simple things you have to do:

  1. Read all three faculty essays. Three of our professors have written full-length essays explaining why a liberal arts education like the one you will be experiencing at FC is so worthwhile.
  2. Write your own short essay. After you have read all three faculty essays, the next step is to write your own short essay.
