Pre-Professional Health Science
A customized Liberal Studies program prepares students well for the competitive admissions process, the academic rigor of medical school, and the later challenges of such professions as:
- Veterinary Science
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Physician’s Assistant
Admissions committees notice such distinguishing characteristics as the applicant’s initiative in planning his or her own interdisciplinary curriculum, the breadth of the applicant’s preparation in disciplines besides the necessary sciences, and the extent to which the applicant’s undergraduate program has involved critical thinking and writing.
For an extra mark of distinction in the medical school application process, the pre-professional health science student can choose the Honors Curriculum, which involves a four-semester engagement with many of the seminal texts of Western culture and which culminates in an interdisciplinary thesis project on a topic of the student’s choice.
Pre-professional health science students often plan their programs of study to include such areas of concentration as Health Sciences, Behavioral Science, and Communication, along with Biblical Literature, which is a vital part of every student’s Liberal Studies curriculum. The Liberal Studies major at Florida College offers students a unique opportunity to combine rigorous study of the sciences with an in-depth study of God’s revealed will, instructed in both areas by teachers who are both well-qualified academics and faithful Christians.
