American Civilization

This concentration is an interdisciplinary program of study that aims to ground students in the values and virtues of our American civilization, animating its basic elements and solidifying its foundations. Students graduating from the College with a degree in American Civilization will be trained in research, writing and critical/analytical thinking, while studying the contextual foundation for our society.

We become more well-rounded American citizens and disiciples in the Lord’s kingdom when thoroughly considering individuals, civilizations and events both past and present. This program offers a foundation of courses in Ancient Greece, the Roman Republic and a study of Great Books—all vital components of our exceptional civilization. Along with studies focused on the American past, spanning from colo- nial times to the post-World War II era, this degree program builds a valuable framework of experience and skills for a variety of pursuits.
