A Lasting Legacy: Anthony Allen
Anthony Allen · Eustis, Florida · Junior
Anthony Allen has always been an athlete, and Florida College gave him a place to play the sport he loves in a spiritual environment surrounded by good influences.
“I have a lot of great relationships with my teammates,” Anthony said. “With everyone being close together on campus, you naturally bond over time. We are all actually really close.”
Anthony is confident that the relationships he is building with his basketball teammates now will last long after he graduates from Florida College with his business administration degree. Although he isn’t sure exactly how he plans to use his degree, Anthony believes that his classes in the business program are preparing him for the next step in life, whatever that may be.
“With business, you can do so many different things,” Anthony said.
The business administration program at Florida College offers students a broad study of business that will benefit them no matter what career path they choose. The program also requires students to complete an internship, practice interviewing and complete group projects, preparing students for the real world. Anthony is currently considering pursuing positions in sales or management in the clothing industry.
But Anthony has had opportunities to grow outside the classroom as well.
“My experience at Florida College has provided me with a lot of opportunities to grow,” Anthony said.
Whether he is overcoming a tough loss with his basketball team or developing meaningful relationships with his roommates, Anthony is finding ways to grow physically, mentally, socially and spiritually at Florida College. Without the Adopt Program, Anthony wouldn’t have the opportunity to attend Florida College or be able to take advantage of these opportunities to grow.
Anthony is thankful for the Adopt parents who have generously provided this Florida College experience for him.
“Thank you for what you do for Adopt students,” Anthony said. “Words just can’t explain how thankful we are really are.”
