In Peak Shape
The Florida College musical Friends are midway through their annual tour, which began on May 23, and so far things have gone very well. Because they decided to tour later in the summer in order to play at several summer camps, the Friends were able to get in some additional practices and even perform for a Rotary Club before leaving FC. The result, according to Dr. Doug Barlar, was that they were in “peak, middle-of-tour shape” from the very beginning. Besides being positively received at each of their live performances thus far, the group was able to record three of their songs in a professional recording studio in Nashville. Alumni Trey Keller (’03) and Alison Elliot (’07), both of whom have jobs in the music industry, were the recording engineers for the session. The tour has been far from “all work and no play.” The Friends were able to tour the elaborate studios of country star Martina McBride, as well as take a few laps around Lowe’s Speedway in Charlotte at 85 mph. Dr. Barlar wanted it made clear that he was not the one in the driver’s seat. Listen to a clip of the recording made by the Friends here. |
