President Caldwell Announces Intention to Retire
During the fall meeting of the Florida College Board of Directors (Friday, September 19, 2008),
President Caldwell requested that the Trustees begin a search for the fifth President of Florida
College and allow him to return to his tenured position on the faculty. After eighteen years as
President, he will pursue other opportunities for service. In his statement, he said that he
considers returning to his teaching position a “promotion.” He will continue in his present role
until the Board chooses and installs the next President. Board Chairman, Paul Cook of Bowling
Green, Ky., will lead the Directors in its review, search, and selection process. President
Caldwell has said that he expects to be the “chief cheerleader” for the person who follows him in
this office.
