2007 Royal Palm Yearbook DedicationIn a ceremony befitting a history lover, Dr. Brian Crispell was announced as the dedicatee of the 2007 Royal Palm Yearbook. Several students and faculty members coordinated to present a historical skit to announce the honor.

"Dr. Crispell is many things to many people. He is not only a teacher, but also a loving husband, a father of three, a Bible class teacher, a deacon in the Lord’s church, a society sponsor, and the chairman of the faculty scholarship committee. With all this responsibility, some might have the problem of becoming stretched too thin, and neglecting some areas. However, with Dr. Crispell, this is not the case. Former student secretary Lauren Lovelady attested to this: “He makes it a point to do new research before each class that he teaches. He picks out new Powerpoint slides for every class and new pictures, because he is aware that some people need visual aides to help them learn. Every time I saw him he was working on something new.” Even with all his work in academics, Dr. Crispell’s home is never lacking of his presence. “I feel very fortunate,” his wife said. “He’s very involved with the kids. He takes them to and from school when he can. He helps them with their schoolwork, not because he has to, but because he wants to. He makes my job so easy. He has a real dedication to all of us.”

It is obvious to anyone who knows him that Dr. Crispell loves his work. He once told a class, “There are some days that go by when I can’t believe I get paid for what I do.” His wife agreed with this and added, “He doesn’t teach in hopes of winning an award. He teaches because he loves it.” Perhaps it is because of this love that Dr. Crispell excels at his job. He has been consistently listed in volumes of Who’s Who among American Teachers since the beginning of his teaching career. He has also been voted the top lecturing professor at Florida College the past five years. Last December, he received tenure—an honor that shows the College’s full confidence in his ability, and complete commitment to him for as long as he desires to remain at Florida College. The editors of this year’s Royal Palm believe the impact that Dr. Crispell has had on students is outstanding. We admire not only his skills in teaching, but also his dedication, humility, and love for the Lord. We are honored to dedicate the 2006–2007 edition of the Royal Palm to Dr. Brian Crispell."
