Graduation RequirementsStudents planning to graduate from Florida College with the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies must complete all of the following requirements in addition to having already met all of the academic requirements of the AA degree : 1. Total Semester HoursStudents planning for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies must complete a total of 124 semester hours of accredited college work with a total of 51 hours at the 3000 or 4000 level. 2. Quality of WorkA minimum quality point average of 2.25 overall and on all upper level work is required for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. 3. Language RequirementThe degree requires that a student complete two semesters of a foreign language. 4. Daily Bible RequirementEach student must take a Biblical Literature course each day that he or she takes classes on the Florida College campus. 5. Component AreasAlong with 12 upper-division hours in Biblical Literature, students must complete 39 upper-division hours in two or three other component areas in order to complete the Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. Up to twelve hours of one of these components may be completed at another accredited college or university. The college catalog provides fuller details about the options students have within this interdisciplinary degree program. One of these options is the Honors Curriculum, which includes a four-semester sequence of courses in the Great Books and the writing of a senior thesis. 6. Great BooksEach Liberal Studies major must complete HUM 3224: Great Books—Classical through the Renaissance. (Students who choose the Honors Curriculum will satisfy this requirement through a four-semester sequence of Great Books courses.) 7. Extracurricular ActivitiesStudents are expected to participate in extracurricular activities, life enrichment activities, field trips, and community service projects as a part of the Liberal Studies Program. 8. ResidencyStudents must complete at least 36 semester hours of their upper level work at Florida College in order to receive the Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. 9. Graduation CeremonyCandidates for the Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies must participate in graduation exercises in the year of completing their other requirements. |
