Need-Based AidIn order to be considered for need-based aid, you must first fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Federal Pell GrantThe Pell Grant is a need-based grant which serves as the foundation to which other sources of aid are added. Awards range from $400 to $4310 and are available to full-time and part-time undergraduates. Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)The FSEOG is an additional grant for recipients of the Pell Grant who demonstrate exceptional financial need. Awards range from $200-$700 per academic year. Federal Perkins Loan ProgramThe Perkins Loan is a special loan only available to Pell Grant recipients. It is a low-interest (5%), fixed rate, federally-funded loan. It is awarded to students based on exceptional financial need. Qualified students may borrow up to $4,000 per year. Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)This need-based grant provides approximately $200- $1000 per academic year, subject to state budget appropriations. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to apply. It is recommended that the application be completed prior to May 15th, as these funds are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis. Other State ProgramsIncoming students from following states should know that their state grants are "portable":
Students with grants from these states can use their award money to attend a college or university outside of their state, including Florida College. Students should contact their State Department of Education for further details since there may be a deadline for application. |
