Florida College is an investment in your future, and there are ways to make your education affordable regardless of your financial situation. There are a vast array of scholarships, grants, loans, and other special programs you can tap into to pay for school, and we're here to help you receive as much money as possible. The Big Picture of Financial AidIf you're overwhelmed by the mountain of financial aid information that's out there, you're not alone. But if you take a big step back there are really just three main steps to financial aid: 1. Start by getting as much "free" money as you can.Scholarships and grants are funds that you never have to repay. The more "free" money you can get, the better. You can receive an academic scholarship from Florida College just by applying for admission. But don't stop there. There are thousands of businesses and organizations with money to help you go to school. Use online scholarship search engines, check for local scholarships, and talk to your high school guidance counselor. 2. Apply for federal loans.Federal loans are almost always the cheapest loans you can find, and they're the next-best thing to scholarships and grants. They have below-market interest rates and special repayment options. Even if you think you are not eligible for federal money, you can't be sure until you try. Fill out the FAFSA and start the process. 3. Fill in what's left with campus employment, the Florida College Adopt program, or additional non-governemnt loans. After you've exhausted free and federal money, alternative loans are one way to make up the difference. Private lenders offer a variety of loans, each with their own requirements and features. You can also look into employment opportunities on our campus and the Florida College Adopt Program. |
