The Florida College Endowment

In addition to building new and expanding existing student housing, Florida College has included a secondary component of Share the Vision, Build for Excellence that encourages donors to grow the endowment through planned gifts.

What Is An Endowment?

An endowment is a fund that provides ongoing investment income for strategic funding needs. A large portion of the Florida College endowment pays for scholarships, along with facility maintenance and general budget support. This makes the College less dependant on annual support, allowing FC to keep tuition more affordable.

What Is A Planned Gift?

A planned gift combines tax, financial, and estate planning techniques to create significant benefits. Often a planned gift is a larger donation than would otherwise be possible when tax benefits dramatically reduce your net cost. Most planned gifts are part of a donors estate plan. A bequest through a will is the most popular planned gift, and most planned gifts fund endowments.

Why Is This Important?

Florida College does not accept government or church funding, so an expanded endowment allows the College to remain affordable and competitive while pursuing higher levels of excellence. FC must continue to strengthen its financial footing by growing its endowment to meet future challenges and expenses. For individuals, planned gifts create financial benefits and help meet their charitable goals.

How Can You Help?

Gifts to a college endowment are usually made in the form of bequests (a gift made through a persons will) because of their flexibilitysolid investments in Florida College's future, as it pursues its distinctive educational mission. Other planned gifts (insurance, trusts, gift annuities, etc.) may offer unique tax and estate planning advantages. FCs Planned Giving Office can offer counsel. Your planned gift will enable you to significantly impact the financial future of the College and participate in this campaign.
