What are the advantages of a bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies?

The bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies shares many of the advantages inherent in any liberal arts program. While more focused than the college’s liberal studies degree program, the Biblical Studies program at Florida College is rooted in the rich tradition of liberal arts education that seeks to provide a foundation of broad knowledge in a variety of disciplines. The bachelor’s degree program in Biblical Studies takes full advantage of that which makes Florida College unique. While the program focuses on an intensive study of the Bible, students may design a program of study that suits their individual needs and interests.

What can I do with a degree in Biblical studies?

A bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies may serve in part as preparation for preaching the gospel. But it is not intended as a professional degree or as a degree only for preachers. The work of Bible class teachers, elders, or homemakers will be enriched by this study. Additionally, the degree may enhance preparation for careers such as teaching or human relations.

A bachelor’s degree in Biblical studies, depending on one’s minor, may also be used to prepare for graduate study in these areas:

What are the requirements for the bachelor of arts degree?

Requirements for the B.A. degree in Biblical Studies include all general education requirements at Florida College (including two semesters of Greek), plus the completion of an additional 60 hours (at least 50 upper-level hours) for a total of 124 hours. 36 hours will be taken in biblical literature, of which 30 hours must be at the 3000–4000 level. Each student must complete an approved minor in an area of study other than biblical literature. The successful student must also maintain a minimum 2.0 average overall, as well as on all upper level work.
