ABAC, Emmanuel defeat Lady Falcons

Freshman Mallory Scrimpshire goes up for a header on October 12 against Emmanuel College.

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (9-3-1) faced the women’s soccer team on October 10 in Temple Terrace and FC fell 0-4. The Lady Falcons held their opponent to one goal in the first half, but a short bench led to breakdowns, and they allowed three goals in the second half.

On Monday, the Lady Falcons played Emmanuel College (4-6) of Georgia. Although they lost 0-4, the team fought hard throughout the match. The initial goal came off a free kick in the first half that went just over the hands of freshman goalkeeper Maggie Day. In the second half, FC kept with Emmanuel until the second goal, when the momentum shifted and the Lady Falcons let in two more goals.

Sophomore Lindsey Barnes commented after the game, “We played better today but fell apart in the last twenty minutes. It was a really aggressive game and the score didn’t reflect the intensity.”

Senior Katee Puterbaugh, the FC women’s leading scorer, will be honored Thursday at halftime of the women’s 5:00 PM match with Clearwater Christian College (6-9). This is the last home game for the team. Senior Kevin Harrington, of the men’s team, will also be recognized.

Jessica Boyd drives away from an Emmanuel College player on October 12.
