Volleyball extends win streak to sevenThe FC volleyball team defeated four more teams, bringing their record to 21-5. On October 16, they defeated Florida Christian College (8-18) in three games, 25-17, 25-15, and 25-16. Junior Courtney Miles had seven kills. The next day they traveled to a tri-match at St. John’s River Community College. Against SJRCC (6-28), they were pushed to 27-25 in the first set before winning the last two 25-10. Sophomore Amanda Schaefer played well at the net with five blocks. Next, they played State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (5-24). Once again, the Lady Falcons won in three sets (25-22, 25-20, 25-20). Junior Josie Ratliff had five ace serves against the Manatees. On Tuesday, the women played in a home game against Lake Sumter Community College (9-15). Freshman Kerri Taylor sprained her ankle early in the first game, but the team made adjustments and were able to win in three games (25-20, 25-12, 25-20). Senior Marissa Paulin will be honored at the last home match of the season, against State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota on Thursday. The game begins at 7:00 PM and she will be recognized between sets two and three. The ladies will travel to Southeastern University (6-20) on Tuesday evening to play at 7:00 PM. |
