Southeastern proves too much for men’s soccer team

On Saturday, September 19, the men’s soccer team faced off with Southeastern University (5-2) in Temple Terrace. After a goal at 14:00, the team held the Fire to 1-0 in the first half. FC broke down in the 70th minute. Southeastern prevailed with their superior fitness and utilized the depth on their bench, winning 7-0.

Freshman David Watson felt the first goal especially set the team back. “We came into the game pretty confident. After the first goal our morale seemed to decrease and towards the end people got hurt and we were getting worn out,” said Watson.

Head coach Tim Hanlon ‘09 concentrated on the week ahead. “We will have a full week to prepare for Ave Maria. We’re going to focus on fitness and being able to play a full 90 minutes.”

The Falcons will play Ave Maria University (3-2) at home on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
