Housing and Dining FAQ

What are the residence halls like?

Women are housed comfortably in suite-style Sutton Hall and Hinely Hall on the north side of campus, while most men live in traditional-style Wilson and Dicus halls, or suite-style C-Dorm on the south-west edge of campus. Each residence hall has full-time dorm “parents” and student residence hall assistants. Florida College residence halls are not co-ed and are safe and substance-free.

Are the residence hall rooms connected to the Web?

All students are provided with high-speed internet access in their rooms and at various computer labs located across campus. Florida College also provides network user accounts for each student, making Microsoft Office and Powerpoint available, a personal e-mail account and network printers. A secure wireless internet connection is also available in the student center, the Pouch, and library.

How is the food?

Great—and students can enjoy three meals a day in two convenient locations. Henderson Dining Hall is a relaxed, cafe style atmosphere that lets students choose from all-you-care-to-eat dining stations that include pizzas, fresh salad bar, overstuffed deli sandwiches, home-style entrees and sides, and homemade desserts. The Pelican Pouch located in the Student Center is a great place to get favorite grilled sandwiches, fries, sweet and salty snacks and beverages. Also, both the Dining Hall and the Pouch have their own coffee bars.

Is housing guaranteed?

Yes, all students on campus are guaranteed to get a room in a residence hall. Students should complete the application process as soon as possible in order to secure their dorm preference. The housing deposit is $150 and is fully refundable until May 1 for students entering in the fall.

Can I request a specific roommate?

Students can request a specific roommate as long as both students request each other and the Dean of Students tries to accommodate all requests. You will receive your housing and roommate assignment in mid-July.

Are first-year students allowed to bring cars?

Yes. But if you don't have a car, you probably won’t even miss it. While you can have a car, most Florida College students can get all the personal, social, and spiritual benefits they expect without ever leaving campus. No transportation necessary!
