Academics FAQ

What academic programs does Florida College offer?

Florida College offers five degree programs. Students may stay at the college for two years and complete an accredited Associate of Arts degree that allows them to transfer and complete their education at any other accredited university. FC also offers comprehensive bachelor’s degrees in Music, Elementary Education, Liberal Studies, and Biblical Studies.

What is the classroom environment like?

The student-faculty ratio is on average 15 to 1, which allows teachers to spend time making certain that you understand what you need to know. All of our classes are taught by qualified faculty members, rather than teaching assistants. And smaller classes allow you to get to know your fellow students well. You can speak up and ask questions more comfortably because you know you are among friends. We also offer both writing and math lab services for students who need extra help with papers or before exams. Yet, more than that, our philosophy is that an education without spiritual focus is incomplete. So our professors find ways to make biblical application in every subject they teach.

What is the student-to-faculty ratio?

The student to faculty ratio is about 15 to 1.

Are any classes taught by graduate students?

No. All classes at FC are taught by highly-qualified faculty members who are experts in their field.

How accessible are the faculty?

At Florida College, our faculty is one of our biggest selling points.  We tell everyone what a great group of people they are and how important they are to the whole FC experience.  Professors here are qualified and serious about teaching - they will not hand your class over to a graduate assistant.  They are also friendly and care about your success in life, as well as in their classrooms.  And they want to help you grow, not only academically, but spiritually as well.

What can I do with a degree from Florida College?

Anything! Each of our degree programs are designed to allow students to move directly into their field of interest, continue their education, or pursue certification to teach. We produce high-quality educators, musicians, preachers and scholars through our Bachelor’s degree programs. Each year, we have students excel in graduate programs, law school, and medical school because of the foundational education they received at FC. And each year, we send more wise and well-rounded people into the world to make a difference.
