Campus and Culture FAQWhere is Florida College?Florida College is located in Temple Terrace, FL, a sunny and safe town about 20 minutes from downtown Tampa—Florida ‘s third largest city—and 45 minutes from Clearwater Beach. How many students attend Florida College?Current enrollment is around 500. How many students live on campus? The majority of the student body, typically more than 80%, live on campus. What is the male-to-female student ratio? There are about the same number of both male and female students. What makes Florida College unique?Florida College offers a comprehensive liberal arts education, but we believe that college should instruct the soul as much as the mind. Our students take a minimum of 13 Bible class credits and attend at least one Bible class everyday. Our small size allows students to become part of an exceptionally close-knit community of people who share common beliefs and goals. Every morning, students begin the day with chapel a period of praise and worship, and we encourage our students to make God a part of their lives every day. What kind of student goes to Florida College?Florida College is a rich community, diverse in background, geography, and ethnicity. Yet, the average Florida College student is healthy and happy, an active member of a local church, a good student, and a thriving member of FC’s campus and of the Temple Terrace community. Is the campus safe?Yes. We're located in the heart of a small city and we’re surrounded by safe neighborhoods. The outer doors to our residence halls are secure and each student has their own building key and room key. A private nighttime security officer patrols our campus after dark. We also have an enforced curfew every night to keep our students safe and to encourage healthy sleep and study habits. What do students do for fun?The Florida College campus is always active and our students love spending time together anywhere. But, because of Florida College’s prime location, there are plenty of things to do in town and out. If you’re into sports, Tampa claims the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Super Bowl Champions 2003) and the Tampa Bay Lightning (Stanley Cup Winners 2004). Students often visit the Museum of Science and Industry (less then 10 miles from campus) or hit Busch Gardens (less than five miles from campus) or one of Orlando’s major theme parks on the weekends. And of course, the beaches are close, the drive is beautiful, and Tampa promises culture, great food, and entertainment. What are athletics like at Florida College?Florida College offers student athletes ample opportunities to shine. We have intercollegiate men's basketball, men's baseball, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball. Students who are not on a team but who still love to play may compete on the intramural fields, where the six societies vie for victory in flag football, basketball, softball, and volleyball, and soccer. When can I visit?Anytime you like. We’re happy to schedule a personal visit for you and your family at a time that works best for you. We also hold a special two-day event called Falcon Days to allow high school juniors and seniors from across the country to visit FC together and get a first-hand taste of life as a Florida College Falcon. If you can attend a Falcon Days event, you really should--not only will you get to see the campus first-hand, but you will get to meet many other high school students and Christians who are thinking of coming to Florida College at the same time you are. If you have a question we didn't answer, our Admissions team is glad to help. |
