Dr. Petty, Barr, Rae to Take on New Responsibilities

Florida College is proud to announce the advancement of Dr. Dan Petty to vice president for academic and student affairs, Mr. Jared Barr to chief marketing and information officer and Mr. Jon Rae to director information technology.

Dan face Dr. Petty has been professor of numerous history and Bible courses at Florida College since 1989. He also has served as dean of students and currently chairs the Bible department. In 2011 he accepted the position as the College’s academic dean. As dean he oversaw the expansion of the communication, business and music programs, and helped implement the recent bachelor’s degrees in history and English. As vice president he will be further involved in working toward academic expansion, and will serve as a liaison with Florida College’s accrediting agency, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.

Dr. Petty received his associate degree from Florida College in 1972. He went on to receive a bachelor’s in religious studies from Western Kentucky University in 1975, a master’s degree in religious studies from Texas Christian University in 1980 and a Ph.D. in history from Texas Christian University in 1988.

 

jared.barr.webIn 2009 Jared arrive at Florida College as its latest business professor. The following year he accepted the position of Florida College’s director of marketing while still teaching business courses.

Under the leadership of President Payne, Mr. Barr has paved the way for a more integrated marketing communication approach. As chief marketing and information officer he will now be tasked with further integrating information technology and information systems throughout the institution.

Mr. Barr received his associate degree from Florida College in 2001. He received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from the University of South Florida in 2004 and his MBA from Bradley University in 2008.

Jon has served as a system support specialist and as a College system administrator for the past five years. His responsibilities have included monitoring network security and the evaluation and support of existing network infrastructure.

As director of information technology, Mr. Rae will manage network infrastructure, campus information systems and IT support services.

Jon received an associate degree from Florida College in 1998, and has since received several IT certifications.

Florida College congratulates these men on their acceptance of new responsibilities, and is confident in the College’s direction under their leadership.
