Oratory Union Inducts Eight Into Pi Kappa Delta
The Florida College Oratory Union traveled to St. Louis, Mo. to compete in the Pi Kappa Delta Centennial National Championship Tournament. Pi Kappa Delta is an honorary society that promotes intercollegiate speech and debate competition in order to further educate articulate citizens. The College is proud to announce the induction of Jonah Alvarez, Melody Baughman, Valerie Deering, Nash Freesmeyer, Andrew Gass, Greg Kline, Grace McCormick and Colton Oetting as lifetime members into the Florida College chapter of this exclusive society.
The three-day tournament included 89 schools, and awards were granted to competitors who achieved either excellent or superior rankings. In the tournament with over 900 participants, the Florida College Oratory Union brought home six awards. Melody Baughman received an Excellent in Impromptu Speaking award; Grace McCormick and Colton Oetting both received Excellent in Novice Parliamentary Debate awards; and Greg Kline received awards in Excellent in Impromptu Speaking, Excellent in Extemporaneous Speaking and Excellent is Persuasive Speaking.
Florida College is proud of these students who are continuing the school’s decades-long legacy in competitive speech, debate, and performance.
